Bitwa warszawska 1920 (Battle of Warsaw 1920) (2011)

Back in 1920, one of the most decisive battles of the 20th century was fought in Poland. The First World War had ended, but the Bolsheviks, having taken power in Russia, now marched the Red Army towards Warsaw. It looked like certain defeat for the Poles, but a ferocious counter-attack saw the Bolsheviks routed. This stunning victory prevented communism spreading to the rest of Europe, and secured Poland's independence - for the time being. The story is told through the eyes of newlyweds Ola, a dancer in Warsaw's revue theatre, and Jan, a Polish cavalryman.
